 I have wild roses in my yard. They are a native plant of the Jersey shore. But I also love cultivated roses. This rose was slow to take off because my soil is very sandy as I live close to the ocean. But using water from a fish pond really helped it take off. I forget the variety but its an old fashioned rose with lots of perfume to it. Wild strawberries are on the ground around it.

 A photo taken by a friend in Central Park one afternoon. I darkened up the day, added a rain storm, light to the bulbs on the lamp, water in the fountain base and some lightning to bring the photo alive. Photo was taken on a clear afternoon. This little fellow is made using a stamp brush made by "Hawksmont" and then I colored and painted and monkeyed around with it since it was simply an outline to begin with. Since the maker of the outline brush didn't care, I altered the outline and the drawing to my own liking so in the end it becomes my own work.It's like taking a page from a coloring book and making a nice oil painting from it.I

As long as I can remember my mother wore Avon's "To a Wild Rose" perfume. They no longer make it I think, but I can still remember it being her favorite. April Showers bring May flowers and its been raining off and on for hours and there are indeed signs of flowers.My forsythia is in bloom. Of course its a twig which I just planted last year and not much of a bush yet, but the Lilacs a friend gave me a few years back are ready to burst anytime now. Oh wow, its snowing and sleeting after the nice mild weather of the past few days.I can hear the ice hitting against the sides of the house and the trees are bending over so far in the wind, which is howling outside.I put a fire in the fireplace to warm the cottage up a bit. Its snowing outside heavily right now.Last week it was sunny and a bit warm, but now its freezing cold and a thick snow is falling on the cedars and pines.The bay is still frozen over in spots.I am working on some weather minis now for my blogs also. It snowed yesterday for a long while without any serious accumulation and then in the late evening ice fell til early in the wee hours of the morning.Now, its warmer and rain is falling and lot of gusty winds are blowing.The Bay has been frozen for the past month. A minature painting I am working on.It is the back bay sedge behind my house which is criss crossed with dozens of waterways and filled with all kinds of birds and animals.Hard to see detail here as it's minaturized even further, sorry.I like to paint in minature.
