To make a blog that looks like the samples in the posts below this is what you must do:
First you must switch to the "Scribe " Template on Blogger to achieve this look.
next host the background pictures that you choose on photobucket or tinypic or somewhere of your choice.
Now you will plug them into the html on the blog template in this way:

body {
margin:0;
padding:0;
font-size: small;
text-align:center;
color:$textColor;
line-height:1.3em;
background:#483521 url("http://i17.tinypic.com/2ahifc4.jpg") repeat;
}
Here you put in your own address for the background^ this is the one I used.This is the very back picture on the blog.

Now go to this on the html and put in your next picture if you want to put a "ribbon" around the inner blog ( you can find ribbon samples on the internet):

#outer-wrapper {
background:url("PUT YOUR PICTURE HERE"title="ribbon here");
border-left:1px solid #PICK YOUR OWN COLOR;
border-right:1px solid #PICK YOUR OWN COLOR HERE;
width:700px;
margin:0px auto;
padding:8px;
text-align:center;
font: $bodyFont;
}

Now go here and put in the middle part of the blog :

}
#main-top {
width:700px;
height:49px;
background:#FFF3DB url("PUT THE MAIN CENTER BACKGROUND HERE THE WHITE ") ;
margin:0px;
padding:0px;
display:block;
}
#main-bot {
width:700px;
height:81px;
background:#FFF3DB url("PUT MAIN CENTER BLOG PART HERE SAME AS ABOVE") ;
margin:0;
padding:0;
display:block;
}
#wrap2 {
width:700px;
background:#FFF3DB url("PUT THE SAME ONE AS ABOVE HERE ONCE MORE") ;
margin: -14px 0px 0px 0px;
text-align:left;
display:block;
}
YOU PUT THE SAME PICTURE IN EACH OF THESE 3 above TO MAKE UP THE MIDDLE PART OF THE BLOG.

Blustery Winds Bring all Kinds of Things into View

Monday, March 19, 2007

Its a cloudy cool day with signs of approaching spring in the air, that dampness you can feel as the earth moves closer to April.
March is the windy month. The saying goes, "In like a Lion, out like a Lamb" but the reverse is also true.
It has always seemed a volatile rough month to me as if the earth was caught in a vortex of change on its revolution around the sun. Trees blow and bend nearly touching the earth. Clouds skud across the sky at tremendous speed and tiny green shoots pop up from softening earth, but over it all are those chilly, blustery winds that stir up all kinds of things.

Speaking of revolving around the sun, there are some religious people who are declaring that this is a plot of some kind and that the earth does not revolve around the sun after all. I think they are throw backs to the belief of the time of Copernicus.
Unfortunately one of these people is Warren Chisholm chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, the most powerful committee in the Texas House of Representatives who states that believing the earth revolves around the sun is a Jewish conspiracy. Sigh.
Does this kind of bigotry ever have an end? I feel sad for people like that who can't do much more than hate others.
It was thought in the middle ages that the earth was the center of the universe and everything revolved around earth, which, was also thought to be flat.
Sailors imagined they would fall off the edge if they ventured out too far.
I don't think people in those times were stupid ..no more so than we are today.
It was simply the belief.
I sometimes wonder which of our beliefs will be looked back on and chuckled at.

Til later.. I wish you all good things and sunshine in your heart.

Icy Day

Friday, March 16, 2007

Oh wow, its snowing and sleeting after the nice mild weather of the past few days.
I can hear the ice hitting against the sides of the house and the trees are bending over so far in the wind, which is howling outside.
I put a fire in the fireplace to warm the cottage up a bit. It's really very chilly.
I have some cooking left to do for the weekend, but I am sitting here blogging and sipping hot tea and trying to warm up.
Sometimes you get that chill that just doesn't want to leave you. Even bundled up in a warm sweater and with the tea I feel chilly.
My poor dog does not do well in this weather. She is old now, and finds the weather effects her arthritis badly. I have to help her up and help her walk. She waits for me and we walk together. Her old bones just creak.
I give her those pills to help the joints repair and ester c helps stop pain for dogs with arthritis and she sleeps on an old crib mattress covered in a toasty warm blanket. Floors are just too cold for her.

This is the dear old lady. Isn't she beautiful? Just proves that age doens't ruin a girl's looks!
Well, while she snoozes and I sip tea, I leave you all with a smile and hope your weekend goes well and your weather is always sunny.

Little Calendar Paintings

in the mood for tea

I love making tiny paintings. These are just some of the ones I use as calendars for websites.
They take a while to paint, but I enjoy every hour. None of these use special brushes or stamps these are all hand painted.
The "tea girl" is one of a set of girls I am making. Cartoonish but I like her

Barnegat Light in New Jersey is a good theme for a calendar I think!

This is animated. I wish I could animate the falls but, I don't know enough for that yet.

I love the scenery of America. The vast Plains are inspiration for this tiny painting.
